I’ve been a customer of Sean Chi for years. I started using his services since he was with Spar Bernstein immigration in Manhattan. Things were ok when I retained his services…but worsened over a period of time. He doesn’t follow through with anything and he barely returns calls. He’s quick to take your money…but disappears after. I’ve had to keep calling,texting and chasing him to get things done. He was very rude to me recently. When my adult son and myself was finally able to reach him on the phone…his immediate response was “you’re not the only customer I have”. My family was incredulous of his response as he was on speakerphone. Sean is also dishonest. I’ve recommended several friends and family members to use his services and everyone became upset with me because of Sean’s handling of their taxes. A friend of my mine never received his refund because SEAN didn’t submit the paperwork in a timely manner…and we only discovered that after calling the IRS. He had also made a mistake with the EIN number. Sean didn’t return my calls or communicate with me either in a timely manner. I was recently audited by the IRS over simple amended individual tax returns. I informed him of this. He now wants me to remedy this problem via phone even though I have expressed that at this point I’d be more comfortable meeting with him to get things done the right way. There’s a lot of paperwork to go through…some of which I don’t understand. This is an IRS audit after all. He has yet to respond about meeting with him. Sean rushes you through via phone…and asks for payment BEFORE you see or is given(or emailed)your tax filings/paperwork. The filings aren’t submitted in a timely manner either. I’m not sure when things changed with Sean. He’s very unprofessional and there’s no empathy. He’s more focused on the money and doesn’t follow through on anything or do his part. He seems to have forgotten that he’s providing a service. When you begin to treat your clients like they owe you…or they’re less than…it’s time to get out of the business. Sean also charged me the same price to amend my individual tax returns that he prepared. There’s no service involved. He charges you more for less than an hours work. I was very recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and had to undergo surgery and is still in recovery. Can you imagine a tax preparer putting you through hell…after going through such a life changing event? It’s an extremely stressful situation that no one should have to deal with or go through. Sean Chi was also made aware of my health challenges. I’m a single mother who has sacrificed so much for my family. An immigrant who works very hard to put my children through college. I wasn’t treated respectfully and was taken advantage of. Sean also doesn’t take the time explain much of what is being done.
